Information on 'Iona from the sea - stories and views'

Each Tuesday afternoon, Mark will leave at 2.15 pm to explore the shores around Iona.
You will discover caves and little sandy bays, see Iona Abbey, the beautiful houses of the village street, the Marble Quarry, where the rock for the Abbey church's communion table was quarried from, rocky shores and cliffs where birds might be nesting.

And while on the way Mark will tell you stories about the island - historical facts and myths about St Columba or anecdotes from the crofting community on Iona - and try to answer your questions about life and people of this place.

The trip will often take you around the island, if the conditions allow.
However, to prevent an unpleasant journey (seasickness and/or being soaked through by seawater) Mark will on some days only operate in the Sound of Iona. This will still offer you beautiful views of the island and some of it's most important places, and lots of time to explore the coastline intimately.
As this outing focusses on seeing Iona's shores, rather than sailing, part or the whole trip might have to be done under power only.
